I finished my Bachelor's in Applied Mathematics with an emphasis in Data Science and a minor in Computer Science in 2021. I've nearly completed the Cybersecurity degree, but the dean wouldn't let me substitute Project Management :(
IT Security Analyst II - SOC Team Lead
Trained up 4 FTE SOC analysts and 17 SOC interns. Administered SIEM and EDR (QRadar, CrowdStrike, SentinelOne) deployment across on-prem and cloud environments, developed automation tools/scripts, maintained and developed use cases, primary SOC lead for incident response, fought a bear with my bear hands (haha), survived Log4Shell, CrowdStruck, SolarWinds, etc, etc. Learned most of my technical skills in this role, and drastically improved my management skills (managed a burger joint while I was young - wouldn't recommend it.)
IT Security Analyst I - SOC
Starter cybersecurity role. This was like production help desk - basically technical incident response. Anytime a service broke or had an outage, we were initial triage and recovery. Managed communication across any number of required teams for recovery from an incident. Basically - technical incident response. Learned some cool stuff, like occasionally a router drops the ARP tables. Also, the meme about the software dev interns "rm -rf"ing the prod database is based on real life. This was a night time role while I was a full time student. Slept in my car for 2 hrs each night and made sure to drink a lot of red bull.
